Trek the Fisherman's Trail of Portugal

Fisherman's Trail & A Taste of the Historical Way (April 12 - 25, 2024)

“Portugal’s Fisherman’s Trail and the Historical Way are part of the Rota Vicentina trail system that runs along the majestic west coast of Southern Portugal. Since this trail system is within the protected Alentejo and Vicentine Coast National Park, it is well marked and maintained with the land being kept in its natural form. During this two week group adventure we will hike to and from old fishing villages via clifftop pathways created by local fisherman and enjoy the sites, sounds and smells of the wild and vast Atlantic Ocean. Hiking along the cliffs we’ll be delighted by wild flowers, a variety of bird species such as storks nesting atop sea stacks, friendly farm animals and more. We will also travel inland through eucalyptus, pine and cork trees to medieval villages with historical windmills and discover a 10th century Moorish Castle. At the end of each day we stay in lovely accommodations, most with pools, and enjoy delightful meals where fish is always an option, but meat and veggie dishes are not outshined.
